The subject in question, the creator of the KAFA brand, her highness Beril Ateş emerged into being at the heart of the Anatolian plains in Ankara, where, irrespective of the citys bureaucratic demeanour she discovered a particular proclivity to appreciate the artistic splendour of her surroundings. Roaming through museums, drawing, and painting starting at an early age Berils artistic fixation sided with the concept of people, the source of her greatest inspiration, which shaped the path of her illustrative character. That the human condition rests upon the duality of simple beauty and unspeakable evil, she insists, establishes the most invigorating arena for creativity, which is probably why she earned a top ten placing at the Poster for Tomorrow competition with her piece Freedom of Expression. She graduated from Bilkent University Faculty of Graphic Design as a valedictorian and during her senior year her exhibition People opened in the Galeri Artists in both Ankara and İstanbul, garnering overwhelmingly positive reviews. Right about then she decided to fly to Barcelona for a workshop on illustrative design and returned home with the idea to initiate her very own brand. In early 2012 KAFAs two premier exhibitions, based on Berils Ottoman drawings, branched out to scarves, where she displayed the notorious Ottoman sultans under a comedic light.
Beril continues to pro-create: Artistically, that is. Ranging from t-shirts to badges to earrings she even got around to designing a lounge chair for the Ottoman collection and ideas seem to be pouring out of her in recent times. Every now and then she assumes freelance work to propel the budget up a notch and her next endeavour is the Big Apple. The goal is to literally set-up shop in İstanbul upon her return from New York, although given her unforgettable trip to India the previous summer she just might drop everything and go back. She probably wont, though. Infected with the Mediterranean attitude to live life to the fullest shes as sensual as one gets, admiring good food and dancing and what not almost pathologically. All kidding aside shes the puppeteer behind KAFA ÇİZİMHANE and all one can expect from the woman is anticipate fresher creations.
